"They killed me in Vietnam, and I didn't even know."
The thing is, a lot of people did know, or at least suspect and fear the impact of Agent Orange exposure. Dad told mom many years ago that if he ever contracted some weird form of cancer that it would be likely that it was caused by Agent Orange.
